Before filling out the Application Form for Admission, candidates must thoroughly read the prospectus. The prospectus provides essential information and is governed by the Act, Statutes, Ordinances, Regulations, and relevant resolutions of the Academic Council/Executive Council. For Postgraduate (PG) and Undergraduate (UG) courses, candidates must meet the minimum mark requirements specified in the prospectus to be considered for admission based on merit, which is determined by the percentage of marks or grades obtained in the qualifying degree. However, entrance exams are mandatory for certain programs:

  • MBA (candidates who have qualified in CAT, MAT, XMAT, etc., are exempt)
  • B.Pharm
  • D.Pharm
  • BA (Administration & Governance)

The merit list for these programs may be prepared based on the following criteria:

  • Entrance Test (25% weightage)
  • Qualifying Examination results (50% weightage)
  • Interview (25% weightage)

For Ph.D. programs, candidates must have the minimum qualifying marks and must clear both the Entrance Test and the Interview. Applicants interested in applying for more than one program should indicate their preferences on the same application form. Candidates who have appeared in the qualifying examination but whose results have not been declared can also apply. However, they must submit their results before admission. Such candidates may be granted provisional admission, subject to submitting their final pass mark sheet with the required minimum percentage of marks by 30th September. Failure to do so will result in the cancellation of admission, and no claims for damages will be entertained.

To apply for any Diploma, UG, PG, or Ph.D. program at the University of Science & Technology, Meghalaya for the academic session 2024-2025, candidates can obtain the prescribed Application Form along with the Prospectus from the University Counter at USTM, Meghalaya; Techno City, USTM, Kling Road, Baridua, 9th Mile, Meghalaya, upon paying Rs 1000 (Rs 1500 for MBA) in cash.

Alternatively, the application form can be downloaded from the USTM website (www.ustm.ac.in) and submitted along with the prescribed fee. In this case, the prospectus can be collected during the submission of the form.

The Application Form and Prospectus can also be obtained by post by sending a crossed Demand Draft of Rs. 1075 (for PG and UG programs), Rs. 1575 (for MBA), or Rs 2075 (for Ph.D.) drawn in favor of the “University of Science & Technology, Meghalaya” payable at Guwahati. This should be sent along with a self-addressed envelope of 30×25 cm size, affixed with postage stamps worth Rs.150, clearly indicating the name of the course for which the Application Form is required. The request should be addressed to the Registrar, University of Science & Technology, Techno City, Killing Road, Baridua, Meghalaya, 793 101. Payment by Cheque, IPO, or MO will not be accepted.

The cost of the Prospectus along with the Application Form for each course includes the Entrance Test Fee where applicable. No additional fee is required at the time of submitting the Application Form.

1. Online Application Process
To apply for Undergraduate (UG) and Postgraduate (PG) programs at the University of Science & Technology, Meghalaya, candidates can submit their applications online through the university’s official website, www.ustm.ac.in. Here are the steps to follow:

  • Visit the university website and click on the ‘Apply Online’ link.
  • Register with your name, email ID, and contact number.
  • Verify your email through the link sent to your inbox.
  • Log in with your verified credentials.
  • Select the program you are applying for.
  • Fill in your personal and academic details.
  • Upload the required documents.
  • Submit the application form.
  • Pay the prescribed application fee of Rs. 1000 (Rs. 1500 for MBA and Rs. 2000 for Ph.D.) using net banking, debit card, or credit card.

 

2. Offline Application Process
Candidates can also obtain and submit the application form offline:

  • The prescribed application form for Diploma, UG, PG, and Ph.D. programs can be obtained by paying the necessary fee.
  • The completed application form should be submitted either in person or by post to the office of the Registrar before the last date of submission.
  • Application forms are accepted in the office between 09:00 a.m. and 05:00 p.m. on all working days.

 

3. General Guidelines

  • The application fee is non-refundable, and no correspondence regarding refunds will be entertained.
  • Three recent passport-sized colored photographs, self-attested by the candidate, must be affixed to the application form. Forms with different photographs or photocopies of photographs will be rejected. Photographs should be pasted with gum and not stapled or pinned.
  • Candidates must fill out the application form in their own handwriting. Submitting more than one application form for the same course may result in the rejection of the candidate’s application.
  • The application form must be signed by the applicant.
  • Incomplete application forms will be summarily rejected.

4. Submission Deadlines

  • The last dates for accepting application forms for each course will be notified periodically.
  • Application forms can also be accepted by mail or courier at the Office of the Registrar up to the specified last date. Forms received after this date, regardless of the method of delivery (registered post, speed post, or courier services), will be rejected.

Obtaining and Submitting the Application Form

Candidates seeking admission to the Ph.D. programme at the University of Science & Technology, Meghalaya (USTM) can obtain the application form and general guidelines for admission in the following ways:

  • Online Application: Visit the USTM website at www.ustm.ac.in and follow the “Apply Online” link. This will direct you to a page connected with entranceform.com, where you can complete the application form in several steps. The application fee of Rs. 2000 can be paid using net banking, debit card, credit card, or a crossed demand draft.
  • Offline Application: The application form can also be downloaded from the USTM website. The duly filled form, along with a demand draft of Rs. 2000 drawn in favor of USTM, should be submitted to the office of the Registrar, USTM.

Required Documents at the Time of Admission

When submitting the application, ensure you have the following documents ready:

  • Mark Sheets/Certificates: These must align with the eligibility requirements for admission as specified in the prospectus.
  • Proof of Age: This can be verified using the certificate of High School/Secondary School or an equivalent examination.
  • Character Certificate: Obtain this from the institution you last attended.
  • Experience Certificate: If applicable, provide experience certificates.
  • Reserved Category Proof: For candidates belonging to reserved categories, provide proof of entitlement issued by the competent authority.
  • No Objection Certificate: If employed, obtain a no objection certificate from your current employer.
  • Affidavit for Intervening Period: If there is a gap in your educational or professional history, submit an affidavit from a Notary Public detailing your pre-occupation and non-involvement in any criminal activities during this period.
  • Proof of Permanent Address: Verify the permanent address as declared in the Application Form.

Candidate Responsibilities

It is the candidate’s sole responsibility to ensure their eligibility for the programme before applying. No claims regarding eligibility will be entertained after the application is submitted. Candidates are advised to carefully read all instructions provided in the prospectus before filling out the Application Form. This ensures that all necessary information and documents are accurately provided, avoiding any potential issues during the admission process.

The university offers several avenues for financial support to its students:

1. Educational Loans
The university collaborates with all scheduled nationalized banks to facilitate educational loans. It provides all the necessary information and documents to help students through this process.

2. Scholarships
