Mahapurush Srimanta Sankardev Viswavidyalaya: Admission
- For undergraduate and postgraduate courses, the admission is based on the merit of the qualifying examination. Candidates need to visit the university website and complete the online application form within the specified deadline, which is typically around June 30th.
- The admission process for the Ph.D. program is more detailed. Eligible candidates must apply to the Registrar of the university. The applications are then sent to the Chairperson of the Departmental Research Committee (DRC) of the respective departments. The DRC scrutinizes the applications and conducts interviews to finalize the list of candidates for admission.
- Successful applicants must then complete a one-semester pre-registration course work before being assigned a supervisor based on their area of interest. The university also conducts an entrance test, known as the Mahapurusha Srimanta Sankaradeva Viswavidyalaya Research Admission Test (MSSVRAT), for the Ph.D. program. Candidates must obtain at least 50% marks (45% for reserved category) in both the general knowledge and subject-specific papers to qualify.Certain categories of candidates, such as those who have cleared the NET/SLET/JRF/SRF examinations or hold an M.Phil. degree in the concerned subject, are exempted from the entrance test. The final admission is granted after the successful completion of all the necessary formalities.
