About Indian Institute of Management Shillong (IIM Shillong): Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Shillong is the seventh IIM established in India. The foundation stone was laid on December 1, 2007, by the Union Minister of Human Resource Development. The institute officially began admissions for its first batch on July 4, 2008. IIM Shillong was created to bring world-class management education to the Northeast region of India. The institute is located on a beautiful 120-acre campus at Umsawli in Shillong, Meghalaya, surrounded by lush greenery and pine trees.

IIM Shillong offers various management programs for aspiring professionals. The main course is the Post-Graduate Programme in Management (PGPM), which is a two-year MBA degree. Additionally, the institute offers Executive MBA programs, both full-time and for working professionals. It also provides PhD programs and other certificate courses in different management areas. From 2025, IIM Shillong has started admitting students to the Integrated Programme in Management (IPM), a five-year undergraduate course.

The admission process at IIM Shillong is highly competitive and follows a structured two-phase approach. To be eligible, candidates must hold a Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 50% marks (45% for SC/ST/DA categories) from a recognized university.​

For the flagship Post-Graduate Programme in Management (PGPM/MBA), candidates must score at least 75 percentile in each CAT section (VARC, DILR, QA) for General/EWS categories, while SC candidates need 60 percentile and ST/DA candidates need 50 percentile.​

• Phase 1 involves shortlisting for Personal Interview (PI), where the composite score is calculated using CAT performance (65% weightage) and Normalized Application Rating Score (35% weightage), which includes academic scores and work experience.​
• Phase 2 determines the final merit list based on an Overall Score comprising CAT score (40%), Personal Interview (40%), Application Rating Score (10%), and Gender Diversity Score (10%).​
